2 month check up

Yesterday Brenna turned 8 weeks old and we had her 2 month appointment. The main parts of the appointment are to take her stats (height, weight, head size) and to get a round of vaccinations. To begin the nurse measured Brenna's head, height and the weight. She is up to 21.5 inches long, 9.75 pounds, and her head is 15.8 inches. When the nurse out the numbers in the computer he looked at the screen with the head size and said, "That must be a mistake, let me remeasure." Pat and I laughed and told him all our neices had big heads too. The nurse remeasured Brenna's head and, of course, he had been correct the first time. She is at the 20% percentile for height and weight for her age, and at 96% percentile for head size!! We knew her head was big but I thought she would be higher in the length category. But now I think she looks so long since her head is so big but she doesn't weigh much :)

After being checked out, the doctor said Brenna is in perfect health and to keep up everything we are doing!! We both thought she was doing fine but it was nice to have the doctor say that too!

The last part of the appointment was the shots. Brenna had a bottle while we waited so she was satiated and a little sleepy before the shots. She screamed so loud with each of the three shots she was given--it was definitely sad to see and be holding her as she screamed but we held it together. After the last shot I was able to give Brenna a big hug and just hold her for a minute--then she was calm and started falling asleep again. Some kids get fussy from shots and some get sleepy; Brenna was the later for sure. The rest of the night she just ate and slept.

It is hard to believe it has been 8 weeks since Brenna was born. Labor and the c-section seem like it was so long ago!! We are so thankful that she is so healthy and happy, and that she only wakes up once at night to eat :)
